Hops Could Reduce Ammonia Production in Cattle

In an article, published in the April issue of Agricultural Research, explores the use of hops to reduce bacteria that produce ammonia the the rumin, author Laura McGinnis describes research being conducted by Michael Flythe at the USDA-ARS Forage Animal Production and Research  Unit in Lexington, Kentucky. In addition to having significant economic benefits for cattle producers, reducing ammonia production during the digestive process would mean less ammonia in waste and, potentially, in the environment too.
