Come see ILE at World Water Days/Hydrology Day, CSU’s Lory Student Center ballroom!

March 22, 2010

Today is World Water Day 2010!

Come visit ILE at CSU's World Water Day Fair on campus in the Lory Student Center ballroom. We'll be here from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. today!

Today is World Water Day 2010, a United Nations sponsored global event and campaign to:

  • Raise awareness about sustaining healthy ecosystems and human well-being through addressing the increasing water quality challenges in water management and
  • Raise the profile of water quality by encouraging governments, organizations, communities, and individuals around the world to actively engage in proactively addressing water quality e.g. in pollution prevention, clean up and restoration.

This year, UN-Water is dedicating World Water Day 2010 to the theme of water quality, reflecting its importance alongside quantity of the resource in water management. The Institute for Livestock and the Environment also considers water quality to be critically important for sustaining livestock production and viable rural communities. That’s why we’ve designated water quality as one of our key focus areas and have an interdisciplinary team of CSU faculty tackling important issues related to it.
