University Extension Provides Reliable Information on H1N1 (“Swine Flu”) Pandemic

October 21, 2009

From the outset, the terms used to describe the current pandemic have been confusing and misleading. Reliable information has often been difficult to find.

To help educate the public about the current H1N1 (“swine flu”) pandemic, the Extension Disaster Education Network has launched a new web site. The site contains continued updates on testing of Minnesota pigs, links to USDA/APHIS, as well as outbreaks of 2009 H1N1 in swine and poultry around the world. It also provides:

  • An explanation of the connection between 2009 H1N1 infections in humans and animal populations
  • Background on swine influenza, symptoms, treatment and surveillance plans in the U.S.

This page will be updated regularly as more information becomes available, and as issues arise that need explanation and supporting resources.
